What is a liftgate fee and can I dispute it?
A liftgate fee is charged when a carrier uses hydraulic lift equipment to unload freight at a location without a loading dock. It's disputable in three cases: the site has dock access, no liftgate was used, or the BOL doesn't ask for one. We check the BOL and delivery notes against the invoice to prove it.
How do I dispute a residential delivery surcharge on an LTL shipment?
You need proof the address is commercial. That could be a business license, a zoning record, or the carrier's own address-type database showing an error. We pull that proof and file the dispute directly with the carrier on your behalf.
What is a reweigh fee and is it legal for carriers to charge it?
Carriers can charge a reweigh fee when they re-verify shipment weight and find a discrepancy from the BOL. They're disputable when there's no reweigh ticket, the scale certification is missing, or the reweighed number doesn't match documented pallet weight. We are not a law firm.
How much does an accessorial fee dispute service cost?
The initial 90-day Free Fee Audit is free. If you approve us to file disputes, we charge a flat 25% contingency fee on dollars actually recovered. You pay nothing upfront, and nothing if we don't recover anything. A fixed-fee reweigh and reclass check costs $299 for up to 50 invoices.
How long does it take to get a disputed accessorial fee refunded?
You get the findings report within 48 hours of getting your invoices. After you approve, we file each dispute with the carrier. How fast the money comes back depends on each carrier's own claims process. Federal rules require a carrier to acknowledge a written overcharge claim within 30 days.
What happens to the invoices I send you?
We use your invoices only to check for wrong fees and file your disputes. We keep them for up to 24 months, as our <a href="/privacy/">privacy policy</a> says, and delete them sooner if you ask.
Who reviews my invoices and files the disputes?
Tarroway checks every line of every invoice against the carrier's own rules and files each dispute with the carrier for you. You deal with one contact from the first invoice to the last credit.
Can I stop at any time?
Yes. There is no contract and no retainer, and you can cancel anytime. The free fee audit carries no obligation to file anything, and on contingency you pay only on dollars recovered.
What if a carrier rejects a dispute?
Then that dispute costs you nothing: the 25% contingency fee applies only to money the carrier refunds or credits. On the fixed-fee reweigh and reclass check, you get a full refund if we find nothing to dispute. If we file a dispute and the carrier rejects it, the $299 fee still covers the audit and filing, so that payment is not refunded.
